Hello! We are currently recruiting young adults who are passionate about access to health education, healthcare, mental health counseling, and/or sexual/reproductive healthcare!
This board is intended for individuals beyond high school age (between 18-30), but may not be ready or experienced enough for a full board of director position. The board will be youth led, though Laura (staff member) will be there as a facilitator and support person. At this point the board will help us understand how to best serve our clients in clinic, be peer advocates, provide community outreach, table on behalf of myHealth, help with marketing & social media, event fundraising, and any individual passions that our board would like to focus on.
We meet virtually once per month on the 4th Monday of the month from 6pm-7pm. Outside of the meetings, JB members are expected to meet one on one with other JB members, staff members, or board of directors, and work on any small projects. This board is set up so that each board member gets out what they put into it.

Description
myHealth for Teens & Young Adults is a 501c3 non-profit organization that began in 1971 when a group of local health care providers, school professionals, law enforcement, church officials, and high school students came together to address the increase in unplanned pregnancies and the emergence of sexually transmitted infections among the youth population in the Excelsior area. In February of 1972, West Suburban Teen Clinic opened its first clinic with one full-time nurse, a Board of Directors, 125 volunteer nurses, 30 volunteer lab technicians and 20 volunteer physicians. Over the years we have expanded our services beyond the medical clinic to include Mental Health services and Educational Programs. myHealth partners with school districts, community organizations and coalitions to meet the growing needs of young people and their families in the areas we serve. In 2012, we changed our name to myHealth for Teens & Young Adults to reflect these changes.
