EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION:

Break through the ice of the Antarctic on an epic expedition to unearth a world of dinosaurs

Join forces with a team of scientists and researchers as they explore four new dinosaur species uncovered from the depths of Antarctic ice.

Upon arrival to McMurdo Station, immerse yourself in the extreme environment and continuous challenges of living and working in the Antarctic. Investigate the origins of the now frozen land with ancient artifacts and handle equipment used by investigators to excavate one of earth’s least hospitable environments.

Hunt for fossils before you ascend to Mount Kirkpatrick, also known as "Dinosaur Mountain", and check out the dinosaurs found by scientists on this incredible expedition.

Along the way, you'll:

  • See artifacts from early Antarctic expeditions, including Captain Robert Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova.
  • Take a virtual ride in a replica LC-130 aircraft as you fly over Antarctica.
  • Watch as the team excavates fossils and prepares them back at the lab.
  • Meet 4 new species of dinosaur, all discovered within the last 30 years.

Antarctic Dinosaurs was developed by the Field Museum, Chicago in partnership with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Discovery Place - Charlotte, NC, and the Natural History Museum of Utah. Generous support was provided by the Kenneth C. Griffin Charitable Fund.

We look forward to having you join our volunteer team!
