They say just one experience can change your life -- if that's the case, then why not change someone else's at the same time! Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your time and help others too? Volunteering in hospice will check off both of those boxes!
Encompass Health is looking for direct patient volunteers and administrative volunteers to join our team.
Please see below for a description of each:
Direct Patient Volunteers -- Visit patients and their families in their home or an assisted living facility. Patients in facilities love having visitors come see them and enjoy talking with a new friend, spending time watching tv, being read to, listening to music, or taken outside on a beautiful day. Volunteers can also provide caregiver relief by spending time in the home with the patient while the caregiver goes to the store, runs errands, attends appointments, etc.
Administrative Volunteers -- Provide assistance in the main hospice office to our administrative staff in the following ways: filing, logging data entry, answering phones, making weekly tuck-in calls to patients, assembling medical information binders/packets, and preparing mailings.
11th Hour Volunteers -- To ensure that no patient passes alone without someone by their side, an 11th hour volunteer is present during the final stages of a patient's life.
Bereavement Volunteers -- Work directly with our Bereavement Coordinator and make visits or phone calls to family members of those who have passed. Help with bereavement mailings, coordinating and creating content for support groups, and planning butterfly memorial services.
*Training for all volunteer positions will be given for all opportunities listed above through a new volunteer orientation. Any additional training needed or wanted can be arranged as well. We want our volunteers to feel comfortable with their placement and will work around your schedule to make sure you get the most out of your hospice volunteer experience!
