Mission Statement

RSVP is a nationwide program, but is sponsored locally by Jefferson Parish - Jefferson Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) Our mission is:

To empower our communities through volunteer placements that utilize the talents, interests and experience of persons 55 and older, enhance the lives of the volunteers and those they serve; provide valuable volunteer services that address the needs of the community and affect a measurable change.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to give back and promote positive change in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through community centers, schools, day care centers, local government, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and options to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.

Description

Jefferson Community Action Programs (JEFFCAP) is Jefferson Parish's agency dedicated to fulfilling its mission of empowering as many families of Jefferson Parish including our elderly, disabled, economically disadvantaged and youth through our various programs. Linkages have been built with federal, state, local and private agencies to provide a wide array of services in order to help meet the needs of the clients we serve. Our goal is to help people who need temporary assistance get back on their feet and become self sufficient.

JEFFCAP offers programs ranging from Head Start to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; from housing counseling, rental and utility assistance, to helping families keep their homes, to temporary shelter for those who have lost their homes. Other programs include distribution of food commodities and subsidizing meals for Head Start children and those in attendance at our Family Day Care Homes Program. Also, we offer transportation to people, (who meet criteria) for medical appointments.
