Schedule: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 5-7:30pm
Program/Department Overview:
JVS works with employers to develop and customize training and education services for their employees at their location. Based on the employers’ business and workforce development goals, JVS will provide: English language classes (for non-native speakers), adult basic education, pre-college classes, customer service training, effective communication classes, supervisory training, computer classes, and medical terminology classes. Employer partners at Longwood include Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Mass Eye & Ear
Responsibilities:
Assist remote PreCollege students who are employees at Boston Children’s Hospital to increase their skills in math and reading in a blended learning classroom. Support the instructor by setting up the video and audio feed before the class. Greet students as they log onto the computer and take attendance. Assist the instructor in relaying information over the video chat. Monitor the virtual classroom for questions and assist as needed. Troubleshoot technical problems.
Skills/Qualifications:
Must have a high interest in the immigrant community in our workplaces. Confidence working with technology and a willingness try new things. Familiarity with Moodle, Webcams, or Big Blue Button a plus, but not required. You will be trained on the technology.
