Since Civil Air Patrol’s formation in 1941, its volunteer members have been serving communities and the nation. The Santa Squadron is committed to excellence in CAP's three programs: emergency services, aerospace education, and cadet programs. Volunteer opportunities include search and rescue support, logistics, aerospace education, youth development, public affairs, safety, member education and training, administration, communications, and more. Our valued members include pilots and non-pilots alike. We meet monthly at the NM National Guard facility at Santa Fe Airport (cadets meet weekly). We have an aircraft, radio room, and hangar at the airport.

As a Total Force partner and Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, Civil Air Patrol is there to search for and find the lost, provide comfort in times of disaster and work to keep the homeland safe. Its 60,000 members nationwide selflessly devote their time, energy and expertise toward the well-being of their communities, while also promoting aviation and related fields through aerospace/STEM education and helping shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program.

During the pandemic, volunteers of the CAP New Mexico Wing logged hundreds of hours in the air and on the ground transporting COVID test samples and delivering vaccines to outlying communities. We also engage in community service activities such as Wreaths across America and the Navajo Christmas Airlift.
