Under the direction of the Heritage Park Restoration Coordinator, volunteers will perform general maintenance activities related to the Museum’s exhibits. Volunteers will also complete a series of steps to restore aircraft, missiles, and rockets on exhibit. Tasks may include, but are not limited to washing exhibits, sanding, metalwork, riveting, painting, and stenciling. All volunteers will be required to complete safety and task training.

Description
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History was established in 1969 as an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology. Visitors can explore how nuclear science continues to influence our world. The museum strives to present, through permanent and changing exhibits and displays, the diverse applications of nuclear science in the past, present, and future along with the stories of the field’s pioneers.
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Smithsonian Affiliate and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It is a non-profit, 501(c)3. The Museum hosts approximately 70,000 guests from around the world each year and presents programs to approximately 10,000 children. The Museum runs a science summer camp program within the state, with 300 day-campers learning about ecology, robotics, flight, engineering, medicine and general science.
