ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Western New York

Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. Facilitators encourage participants to provide assistance and emotional support to one another, and connect members of the community with additional Association services.

Seeking compassionate and reliable facilitators to serve within the eight-county region of Western New York.

Training and ongoing education is provided. Background check is required as part of the selection process.

Description

We provide programs and services to those with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia and their families. The Western New York Chapter serves all eight counties of WNY including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. We provide care consultations, a 24-hour helpline (1.800.272.3900), safety services, early stage programs, and education programs for caregivers, healthcare professionals and the general public. The Alzheimer's Association is also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. Together, we are elevating research, public policy, and awareness to unprecedented levels in pursuit of better treatments, a cure of a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
