ORGANIZATION: Be The Cause

Let's Be the Cause! We're sharing inspirational moments as well as hearing from those leading various social causes.

This time, we'll host bone marrow and umbilical cord blood donation donors and recipients in the quest to treat cancer. One recipient has survived Leukemia as a result of the treatment and will be celebrating his 5 years of remission with us.

Come, hang out, and learn about this amazing treatment that is saving lives here in our own community.

Among others impacted by and supporting this cause, we'll be celebrating the following attendees:
- Alex Tung was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2014 and was given 6 months to live. He searched the bone marrow database, but couldn’t find a match. Out of desperation, he participated in a clinical trial and received an umbilical cord blood donation. He is now 5 years cancer free.
- Kristeen Singh donated bone marrow 9 years ago for a seventeen year old boy with Leukemia. "I felt blessed to be given the chance to help him and hopefully give the gift of life. I was told that the recipient was the same age as my nephew, and I knew I would want to save my nephew, so of course I wanted the same for this boy."
- Krissy Kobata was diagnosed with the blood disorder myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) when she was 25. In December 2017, after searching for over 10 years, Krissy underwent a life saving bone marrow transplant. She was featured in the Mixed Match documentary which focuses on Bone Marrow and the Umbilical Blood donation process.
