When you volunteer with Cambridge Schools Volunteers in a public school, you're participating in a team effort educate our city's kids and youth with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning, and personalized support, with the long-term result of postsecondary success and engaged community members.
Those words are from the Cambridge Public School District's mission, but we see those ideals brought to life every day, in every school across the district, in PreK to Grade 12, through the caring of our volunteers.
As an after-school tutor to an individual middle schooler (Grade 6-8) at one of our school-based Learning Centers, you'll have a high impact on student success because of the structure, supervision, and training that CSV staff provide, and because of our close relationship with teachers. Middle school students whom we match to volunteers are young people who have been referred to us by their teachers for tutoring.
Our 55 years serving Cambridge kids in all grades has taught us that the power of relationship is key. That's why we ask for a one-semester minimum commitment from volunteers, for approximately one hour per week. The ability to volunteer weekly for the entire school year is ideal. Elementary and High School volunteering roles are also available.
