Volunteer Role Overview

The YWCA MC Human Trafficking Program consists of a variety of services designed to support victims of human trafficking in becoming independent through a step-by-step process. Our staff provide case management and referrals for trafficking victims, as well as outreach and education in the areas of healthy and abusive relationships, human trafficking, and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). This work involves engaging with at-risk youth and adults on a one-on-one basis. In addition, the HT department engages with other local stakeholders via presentations, tabling at community events, and structured workshops. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support Human Trafficking victims and survivors in their path to success.

Duties and Responsibilities

General Outreach Support

  • Preparing outreach materials for tabling events
  • Gathering and organizing community resources for client use
  • Making additional copies of outreach materials
  • Setting up outreach table at community events
  • Speaking to individuals and groups about YWCAMC programs in an informed, engaging manner
  • Listening and responding to inquiries from community members
  • Providing information about other community resources as appropriate
  • Packing up outreach materials after conclusion of tabling events
  • Other outreach activities as determined by Outreach Specialist and volunteer interest

Workshop Facilitation

  • Collaborate with YWCA staff and interns to deliver human trafficking-focused curricula (i.e. Word on the Stre ets )
  • Interact with audience members during work shop sessions
  • Tailor workshop content to audience needs as appropriate
  • Provide summaries with co-facilitator on each se ssion

Administrative Assistance

  • Conduct ongoing research in to local events and resources for community members
  • Support staff in inputting Program evaluations and surveys into Microsoft Forms
  • Support staff in inputting data into E xcel sheets
  • Assist with preparations and logistics for HT program events
  • Support staff in doing office supplies inventory, resources inventory, and gift cards inventory

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable co-facilitating group workshops , peer counseling, public speaking, a dvocacy tabling , and outreach; 
  • Flexible availability ;
  • Valid California’s driver’s license, proof of insurance (if driving a vehicle), and reliable transportation; 
  • Proficient oral, written communication and presentation skills; 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (I.e. data entry in Excel sheets)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training Certification required; agency will provide if the right candidate is not yet certified;
  • E ngaging public speaking skills;
  • Must demonstrate an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, abilities, and religious backgrounds;
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, manage time, and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to build rapport and connect with individuals, both inside and outside the organization
