Black Connect is fueled by a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who work in a volunteer capacity. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will drive revenue and have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Black Connect’s leadership team, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.

Leadership & Management:

  • Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Advisors; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for local and national operations.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain Black Connect’s volunteers and management team.
  • Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
  • Model Black Connect’s culture, values, and behaviors
  • Represent Black Connect as required, including attendance of important functions, industry events and public meetings
  • Oversee design, marketing, branding, promotion, delivery and quality of all programs, products, and services.

Fundraising & Communications:

  • Expand local and national revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and national expansion while simultaneously retiring any outstanding debt.
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications-from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
  • Serve as Black Connect spokesperson with the media.
  • Ensure that all communications (internal, external, social media, marketing) align with the Black Connect brand.

Planning & New Business:

  • Design the national expansion and complete the strategic business planning process for chapter and program expansion into new markets.
  • Build partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with funders, and political and community leaders at each expansion site.
  • Publish and communicate program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication

Founded on June 3, 2019, Black Connect is the only national, membership based organization focused solely on eliminating the racial wealth gap in America by increasing the number and success rate of Black-owned businesses. Our programs and mobile app provide tools and resources that foster and facilitate business ownership and economic independence.

We envision thriving Black businesses and communities across every state in America achieved through education, resources, collaboration, partnership, and mentoring. An entrepreneurial ecosystem is indispensable to significantly increase Black business ownership and make entrepreneurship more widespread and profitable.

Black Connect tears down silos with a national membership and chapter base; thereby fostering collaboration and increasing and unifying communication, awareness, and resources. Black Connect is developing a business incubator that will provide assistance with every aspect of the business cycle from idea to income.

We empower our members with a diverse range of ideas, tools, and resources that support professional and economic development. All members are connected via the Black Connect mobile app and business networking platform ( blackconnect.com).
