Becoming a U.S. citizen is a complicated process, particularly as the USCIS transitions its application process from paper-based to 100% online from January 2020. Help members of our community be successful as they prepare to take their final steps to becoming United States' Citizens. Salinas Public Library is looking for bilingual (Eng./Sp.) Citizenship Support Volunteers who will work in conjunction with our Lead Instructors.

You will assist new participants with the program's intake process, referring them to local organizations for more specialist help where required; conduct mock naturalization interviews, providing feedback on areas of strength and weakness; and help to orient participants in the new, digital aspects of the application process. Experience in tutoring or instruction, and experience of the naturalization process are desirable but all training and support will be provided. The most important skills you can bring to our program are your patience, compassion and the desire to make a very real difference in people's lives.
