Interested in joining the movement for a Hunger Free San Diego?
Our goal is to ensure that everyone in San Diego has enough food to eat. We are seeking volunteers to assist in our efforts to do so for the senior population in El Cajon. As a volunteer, you will conduct a Food Insecurity baseline survey at our "CalFresh in a Day" workshops.
This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community, understand the food assistance application process, and be a part of a national research project aimed at understanding food insecurity among seniors.
Your role as a volunteer will include 1:1 interviews with eligible seniors. The interview will take place using a standardized screening on a tablet that will be provided to you during the length of the workshop. Each workshop will be approximately 4 hours, depending on the number of visitors.
There will be multiple "CalFresh in a Day" workshops held between January 20th and February 14th, 2020.
(1) Thursday, February 6, 2020: 1:00pm-4:00pm
El Cajon Library, 201 E Douglas Ave, El Cajon, CA
(2) Monday, February 10, 2020: 1:00pm-4:00pm
El Cajon Valley Mobile Home Park, 410 South 1st St, El Cajon, CA
(3) Friday, February 14, 2020: 10:30am-2:00pm
Salvation Army, 1011 East Main St, El Cajon, CA
We would be delighted to have you on our team as a volunteer at one or more of these events! If you interested in assisting at any (or all) dates above, please contact bdonine@sdhunger.org.
