The Plus One Mentoringprogram is for youth in the community, ages 10-17, who are experiencing challenges in their academic and/or social lives. Volunteer mentors are matched with a youth whom they meet for 1.5-2 hours each week for 1 year. Together, matches can partake in various activities such as working out, playing sports, swimming, doing arts & crafts, baking, etc. Youth work with their mentor to achieve the goals that they've set for themselves while in PlusOne. After 6 months, the match begins to meet less frequently; possibly once every 2 or 3 weeks depending on the youth's needs. The hope is that the youth leaves the PlusOne Mentoringprogram having made positive changes in their life, and with skills that they can use to assist them in continuing to make positive changes and choices in life.
