King County Needs Hospice Volunteers!
Providence Hospice of Seattle
Providence Hospice of Seattle is actively seeking caring and compassionate people throughout King County to support terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers provide companionship, respite for caregivers, and assistance with transportation, errands and housework. If you have a heart for being with people at the end of their lives, then this opportunity may be a match for you. Volunteers are matched with patients and families in their own community.
Note: Because patient and family support volunteers serve patients living in homes and facilities throughout our community, we recommend that volunteers have their own vehicles. (We do attempt to place volunteers with patients who live near them.) However, you are not required to have your own vehicle or provide transportation.
Patient & Family Support Volunteers
Volunteers offer practical and emotional support to hospice patients and their loved ones. They may provide respite for caregivers, companionship for patients, transportation to appointments, or assistance with errands, household tasks, meal preparation, and yard work.
Volunteers interested in working directly with patients and families must complete our core training and patient care volunteer training. Volunteers attend a series of four in-class-sessions completing 24 hours of training prior to receiving their first assignment.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, the next step is to complete an online application. Then one of our Volunteer Coordinators will contact you to arrange an in-person interview and answer any questions you have.
For more information, see our website at http://providence.org/hosvolunteer or call (206) 320-4000 or (888) 782-4445 (toll-free) and ask for Volunteer Services.
We look forward to talking with you!
About Providence Hospice of Seattle
2811 South 102nd Street, Ste 220, Tukwila, WA 98168, US
As expressions of God’s healing love, witnessed through the ministry of Jesus, we are steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
Volunteers with Providence Hospice of Seattle (PHOS) help provide emotional and practical support to those who are facing a terminal illness. We serve patients and families throughout King county, wherever they may call home (private residence, nursing facility, adult family home, etc.) Volunteers can serve in their own community. Volunteers may help by providing companionship for patients, respite for caregivers, transportation to appointments, assistance with errands such as grocery shopping, and much more. Complementary Therapists also provide massage therapy, music therapy, animal-assisted interactions, meditation, and other modalities to provide comfort to patients. Volunteers also provide support to our bereaved family members through one-on-one listening support, co-facilitating a children, teens or adult grief group, or as a volunteer at Camp Erin (an overnight, weekend camp for children and teens who have lost a loved one). In addition, volunteers help support our mission through administrative work in our offices.
