Special Olympics in the Five Valleys Area is looking for an Area Basketball Committee Chair! Join our mission of inclusion today!
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Area Basketball Committee Chair sits on the Area Management team and plays an instrumental role in organizing and planning for Area Basketball Tournament for our Special Olympics athletes.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Area Management Team: Work with the Area Director, Outreach Coordinator and other AMT members to develop annual goals related to the Area Basketball Tournament.
- Area Basketball Tournament Recruitment & Oversight: recruit Area basketball volunteers to help organize the tournament; coordinate locations for local teams.
- Committees: Serve on Special Events committees as needed and offer assistance to ensure success.
- Meetings: Provide progress reports on Area Basketball progress at monthly AMT meetings.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: Prior experience with a nonprofit organization or sports organization preferred. The capacity to engage others in the planning and process of coordinating a Basketball tournament. Ability to supervise and effectively delegate to other volunteers. The ability to communicate openly and in a timely manner. Must complete Class A volunteer application and screening process through Special Olympics Montana.
TRAINING PROVIDED: New volunteer orientation and sport-specific training provided by Special Olympics Montana staff. Ongoing training provided annually.
COMPENSATION:Smiles, hugs, and lifelong friendship! This is a volunteer, non-paid position. Allowable expense reimbursements are available.
