Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West, Habitat STW, builds houses in partnership with families who qualify for home ownership based on three criteria: need, willingness to partner with Habitat and an ability to repay a no-interest mortgage. Founded in 1981, Habitat STW has built over 302 affordable new homes, completed dozens of major home renovations, and impacted the lives of 1,000's of families across western St. Tammany Parish.

We invite volunteers of any skill level to join us in the fight against poverty housing conditions. Habitat STW offers volunteer opportunities on the construction site, at our ReStore, and through special projects and committees. No matter what you choose, you're making a difference in the lives of local, working families!

At the Habitat St. Tammany West ReStore, our staff and volunteers happily accept donations of new and gently used items. We sell those items to treasure hunters and bargain shoppers alike to raise money for our mission of eliminating substandard housing. The Habitat STW ReStore provides a more affordable avenue for home improvement projects, all while keeping tons of perfectly good items from ending up in the landfill.

The ReStore depends on enthusiastic volunteers for everything, from helping customers to arranging merchandise. Whether you enjoy interacting with the customers or prefer to remain behind the scenes, chances are we have a volunteer opportunity fit just for you! The ReStore has volunteer opportunities Monday through Saturday, from 8:00am - 4:00pm. Their volunteer shifts are very flexible and can be adjusted to fit almost any schedule.

Volunteer activities include, but are not limited to:

• Greeting customers as they arrive.
• Assisting customers.
• Assisting with loading or unloading donations from donor vehicle or ReStore truck.
• Inspecting and approving donations, ensuring they meet ReStore donation guidelines.
• Cleaning, organizing, and stocking merchandise display shelves and items.
• Creating attractive and unique visual displays for various departments.
• Maintaining departmental organization and clean lines of aisles.
• Fixing or testing appliances, tools, machines, electronics, and lighting fixtures.
• Pricing and tagging merchandise.
