Would you like to assist people in finding ways to get help when they are going through a difficult situation? As an Information and Referral Specialist, you will be working directly with people on the phone to help them through difficult situations and connect them to resources in their community.
Hundreds of people call 211 everyday looking for information and referrals on food, shelter, financial and legal, parenting and childcare, elder care, alcohol and drug abuse, mental health, health care, disabilities, the donation of items and goods, and more. Our volunteers answer these calls and provide them with appropriate community resources that will assist them.
In order to be best equipped to help callers, all of our volunteers are required to go through a multi-step training process before they can become Community Information and Referral Specialists.
This position will allow you to improve your customer service skills, learn about resources and needs in the community, and make a direct impact on people’s lives during difficult times.
You must be at least 18 years of age and able to work remotely with own laptop/desktop with reliable Internet connection. You must have excellent computer skills. Volunteers work one 4-hour shift per week between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday. New volunteers are required to commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.
