COMPASS at PS.157 is an after school program that currently provides 80 -90 children in grades k-5th with daily activities to enrich and encourage. The After school Classroom Assistant will support children in grades k-5th with homework help, daily lessons, and activities facilitated by group leaders.
Purpose of the Position
To support the mission of PS 157 COMPASS which currently provides 80 -90 children in grades k-5th with daily activities to enrich and encourage.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide homework help to students grades K -5
· Aid classroom teachers in lesson plan instruction.
· Work 1-1 with students who need more support.
· Read to students 1-1 or in small groups.
· Support students in various activities that include STEM, Arts & Crafts, Sports & Rec, Social-emotional learning, etc.

Time Commitment
2 days out of the week
2:30 - 5:30 pm
Length of Service Required
Ideally 2 -3 months but we are flexible and understand that availability changes over time.
Skills, Knowledge, and Attitudes
Prior experience working with children preferred. Basic knowledge of Math and ELA concepts. Background check and fingerprinting required.
