We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to assist with scheduling monthly activities for our Advisory Board of kids ages 7-16 and working with our volunteers during our annual holiday toy drive. This position requires excellent organizational skills, good communication skills (verbally and in writing), computer literacy, and a strong desire to help kids and youth in need.
Giving hope and joy to help heal children in their time of need. Inspire others to create a culture of kindness and mutual support in our communities.
Kidzz Helping Kidzz was started four years ago by 10 year old Zachary Darner. At that time Zachary's infant brother was quite ill and in the hospital on several occasions. Zachary decided to raise 50 new toys to give to children who were in the hospital during the holidays. He went door to door in his neighborhood providing information flyers to neighbors and friends about his toy drive project. He also set up collection boxes around town and gave presentations to classmates at school about the project. That year he exceeded expectations and he distributed 259 toys to those hospitals.
The next two years, Zachary led his toys drives always exceeding his goals. In 2017 he raised 1589 toys which were given to children who were hospitalized during the holidays at Harrison Hospital, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Seattle Children's Hospital. In 2018, he raised 5890 toys! In 2019, Zachary raised 6712 toys!
Zachary and the seven children who make up the Kidzz Helping Kidzz Advisory Board are passionate about helping children in need. In an effort to increase literacy among children, they have developed a "story time" at Barnes and Nobles. They volunteer with the Bremerton Backpack Brigade by helping fill backpacks full of food which are delivered in schools to children on the free and reduced lunch program. They also bring deserts and play board games with homeless youth at the Coffee Oasis. Please visit our website to learn about our other projects.
