ORGANIZATION: Adelante Hispanic Achievers

Adelante Hispanic Achievers offers a Mentoring and Enrichment Program every Saturday for students in grades 6 through 12. Volunteers act as role models for the students and assist Adelante staff with the program. The Mentoring and Enrichment program consists of presentations, workshops and field trips which provide academic support, life skills development, community service, and career opportunities for students and families.

Description

We help students with educational, personal, social, and cultural growth. Our target population includes both U.S. born and recent immigrant and refugee youth from Louisville's Hispanic community.

Adelante Programs:

  • Mentoring & Enrichment: weekly presentations, workshops and field trips which provide academic support, life skills development, and career opportunities for students and families.
  • After School Tutoring and Homework Help: offered on Wednesdays at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Thursdays at Olmsted Academy North
  • Parent Involvement: quarterly workshops and ongoing parent support.
  • College Readiness: study skills, ACT preparation, shadowing opportunities, summer "bridge" programs, university visits.
