Power of Positive Music Movement (PoPMM), a tax-exempt non-profit organization dedicated to changing the world through music, is pleased to announce that it is taking part in the California Adopt A Highway(r) program by adopting part of Highway 405 in Los Angeles.

"We’re delighted to be able to do our part in taking care of the community we live in," says PoPMM’s founder, Keyonne Brooks. "Showing social responsibility is at the very core of who we are. We’re here to facilitate a positive change in the content of music media, and it makes sense that we should also set an example by demonstrating our concern for the environment."

Brooks notes that volunteers aged 16 and up are encouraged to sign up to participate in the program.

Inspired by recent events in mass media that have had a profoundly negative effect on society, PoPMM aspires to use the power of music as a catalyst for change by reaching out to artists, musicians, directors and radio hosts. The goal is to make the world a safer place by focusing on positivity and understanding. The process involves targeting youth and implementing music programs in schools together with PoPMM festivals and events, and advocating with the FCC for a change in regulations on music content allowed to be played over the airwaves.

PoPMM has a wealth of celebrity support, including Alex Marley, Gerald Albright, Dave Koz, Deniece Williams, The Product G&B, Carl Giammarese, and many others.

Mission Statement

It is our goal to facilitate a positive change in the content of music media through awareness, education, and opportunities for upcoming Artists and Musicians in an effort to affect society in a positive manner. Music is powerful and can change the world we live in!

Description

The Power of Positive Music Movement (PoPMM) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit inspired by the recent events in mass media that have built mental walls and poisoned society. Music has always been a powerful tool to bridge relations between communities and bring about a universal message for change. There were songs like "What’s Going On" by Marvin Gaye / "Imagine" by John Lennon / Man In the Mirror" by Michael Jackson that sparked thought-provoking conversations making way for understanding. We all would like to live in a world where we can feel safe and it has to start somewhere. Artists/ Entertainers have to be the catalyst for this change we so desperately want to see. The PoPMM will challenge artists and musicians in all forms to produce art with a positive message. Also, challenging program directors & radio hosts to play music with this positive message. We plan to promote songs that display this message with the hashtag #PoPMM. This is something that everyone stands to gain from. This music movement has potential to have a significant impact on the greater good of all and we hope that you will join in this movement to help change the world.
