The most common Hospice Volunteer involvement is visiting our patients, so caregivers can have a break, a couple of hours to run errands or to do something for themselves.

You don't need to have any particular background. "Every-Day-Heroes" just need to be compassionate, a good listener and tolerant of the wide-spectrum of personalities we serve and of the many ways people choose to live.

By making yourself available to provide a few hours of respite and companionship, you can save someone in stress... Or defend someone from being alone! Hospice Volunteers use their power of time to journey with patients, and their caregivers, who are confronting end-of-life issues.

Hospice patients, and their families, need support by regular people, with no specific power, except a willingness to be there, to listen, and to be a witness to the changes they face.

Holy Redeemer HomeCare and Hospice utilize Volunteers to augment the quality care that the agency provides. Volunteers are involved with offering "the extras" that patients and families often need in this stressful time of their life, which include respite support and companionship visits.

By being willing to accompany those, at a time when most are avoiding them, you'll be able to reduce their anxiety and rescue patients from dying alone.

If you are intrigued, and would like to learn more about this type of volunteering, please ask for an Introductory Packet, which will have details.

Training programs will be starting soon in 2020!
