How does a Truck Mechanic help build safe, affordable housing for families in Milwaukee?
When you intern or volunteer as our Truck Mechanic, you will keep our pick-ups and delivery trucks humming, our construction crews out on the build sites, and our maintenance costs low. The work you do will help Milwaukee Habitat stay on schedule to build more houses with more new homeowners this year.
- Weekly truck assessments and maintenance on Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity vehicles
- Upkeep and organization of tools and parts
- Log and report any issues to appropriate staff
- Develop a system for tracking truck repairs needed
- Occasionally, assist with prepping and loading building materials
Truck Mechanic Intern/Volunteer Requirements:
- Possess valid driver’s license
- Be available up to 4 hours per week, preferably on Mondays
- Ability to work independently on vehicles
- Ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds
- Communicate in a strong and professional manner
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to pass required background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have transportation to Habitat’s main office (3726 N Booth Street)

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing by working alongside future homeowners and volunteers to build and rehab simple, decent and affordable houses. Milwaukee Habitat also two donation-driven retail stores called the ReStores.
All proceeds from ReStore sales benefit Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity's mission of building simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. The ReStore is stocked exclusively with donated items such as new and used furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets, building materials and other home goods.
