Optometrist Assistant and/or Translator Volunteer
Christ Clinic is blessed to have amazing specialists such as Optometrist, Dr. Ohan, that provide specialty care to our patients. We are in huge need of a volunteer who can help us support Dr. Ohan and our patients by assisting him on a monthly basis. Dr. Ohan is at Christ Clinic the second Monday of every month from 9am-2pm. Job duties for this volunteer position include:
- Visual acuities
- Intraocular pressure measurement
- Administer dilation drops
- Patient flow/schedule management
- Translation (English to Spanish)
- Commitment to be available the 2 nd Monday of every month from 9am-2pm
Our team is willing to train this individual on the job duties listed above. Ideally, we would like to have this volunteer present to shadow on Monday, January 13 th, 2020 at 9:00am. Description
Christ Clinic services include primary medical care, pharmaceutical assistance and patient education. Christ Clinic provides healthcare access, chronic disease management and preventative care services Monday - Thursday 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Friday 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
In addition, Christ Clinic also obtains donated medications through local doctor’s offices and other national medication donation programs. Volunteers and staff at Christ Clinic also work with local pharmacies who give patients medication at NO or very low cost to the patients. Christ Clinic also helps patients apply for medication assistance from pharmaceutical companies to get name brand medication at no cost to the patients.
Christ Clinic provides chronic disease management and addresses obesity, diabetes and nutrition through patient education classes. Education classes include information about diabetes, maintaining a healthy heart, nutrition classes to promote healthy eating and smoking cessation. As a result of these classes, patients are able to manage their chronic conditions and improve their overall health.
Through these various programs Christ Clinic is able to assist the most vulnerable people living and working in our area. Throughout the year we are able to help numerous people get the healthcare they need.
