Meet Margie - an Older Neighbor in Loveland

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Volunteers of America Northern Colorado Services

Meet Margie (not her real name). Margie was born in Belgium during WW II and was hidden as a baby. Her parents planned to come back for her, but were captured and died in Auschwitz. She was adopted by a couple in the US and was raised in New York. There she met Barbra Streisand and John Steinbeck growing up. She went to the famous Woodstock music festival in 1969. She married, raised two kids and ended up in Colorado. These days, Margie struggles with remembering things because of a brain disease and is cared for by a family friend at home in Loveland. She is friendly, chatty and active and would like to have more people to visit with.

Want to meet Margie or others older neighbors in Loveland who are awaiting a volunteer to visit with weekly? Become a Caring Companion.

Here's what other family caregivers are saying about their volunteers:
"Our Companion is the best! He treats my loved one as a true friend."
"Our volunteer is amazing, We love her so much."
"They laugh a lot. It's nice to hear."
"Our Companion is a bright spot in our week."

Many Loveland families would love a visitor for an older loved one. Volunteer with our Caring Companion Program, lend an ear and share your interests for 2 hours a week! Volunteers DO provide much needed socialization and friendship, and caregiver respite. They DO NOT provide personal care, meal preparation, transportation ,etc.

Contact us today to start making new friends, by making someone's day.
