Do you enjoy making new friends? Are you seeking to find ways to engage with others in your community? If this sounds like you, consider being a Cross-Cultural Partner with Treetops Collective.

Cross-Cultural Partners within our Concentric program walk alongside New American women and teen girls as friends and allies. Partners meet one-on-one with program members four hours each month for the 9-month-long program. You will experience life together, meet in each other’s homes and other mutual places, meet family members, attend Treetops-hosted outings, share meals, practice English and go on excursions around Grand Rapids.

Mission Statement

We are a cross-cultural movement that seeks to connect with and invest in New American leaders, together transforming our communities into places where everyone can belong.

Description

The Concentric Program is our largest program, offered to refugee/immigrant women and teen girls each year. The program is split into language groups (8 groups in the women's program, 4 groups in the teen program), and each group is led by a New American woman who shares that language. These women and teens build community with each other throughout the year, connecting one another to opportunities and resources, and covering a variety of monthly topics. During their time in the program, each member gets partnered with a volunteer who walks alongside them in a mutual friendship. These volunteers are called Cross-Cultural Partners, and the idea is to build further social connection/community, learning from one another and supporting each other.
