Dear Relay For Life of Hope Central Volunteers, Hope you are staying safe and well. As I have written before, our Relay For Life of Hope Central remains postponed. No Relays will be held the entire month of June, per the American Cancer Society. Our City of Costa Mesa contact has a meeting on June 18th, to plan their reopening of venues for July through December 2020. We won't know their decision until later this month or further out. Our planning committee met via Zoom last Tuesday and we are hoping to have a modified, one-day Relay For Life event in late August, although it is not for certain at this time nor the date. We will meet on June 16th to have a better idea of an upcoming Virtual Rally, but until we hear from the decision makers, our event remains in a fluid state of flux. My normal planning for a Friday set up, Saturday support, and Sunday take down will be modified most likely to a one-day event. We will continue to need volunteers to help us. I will keep you informed. Wanted to keep you in the loop and know you are there for us when we need you and your support. Description
The Relay For Life is the signature fundraising international event.
At Relay For Life events, teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground to raise funds for the fight against cancer. Events are up to 24 hours long, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. The event is an opportunity for communities to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much.
Relay volunteers help with registration, logistics, participant support, and other unique opportunities based on the event’s location. Or you can be a Relay For Life team member or team leader and volunteer your time toward participating in the event and fundraising. Relay For Life’s volunteer-driven model help make it the most successful fundraising event in the world. Even if you aren’t a night owl, there’s a place for you at a Relay For Life event.
