Are you a skillful storyteller with a strong desire to help homeless pets? Are you ready to change lives by putting your creative writing skills to use? If so, we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

We are looking for a talented "animal biographer" to join our volunteer team. Our ideal volunteer will find joy in seeking and pulling together organized bits of information to create a brief but captivating narrative. This individual will create biographies about each companion animal in HEA’s care. This content will support the adoption efforts for each cat and dog.

Responsibilities include:

• Referencing informational forms filled out by fosters, staff, and volunteers to gather information about the needs, behaviors, and background of individual animals
• Producing short, engaging biographies about each animal to be featured on HEA’s website
• Generating content that is incredibly concise, captivates audiences, and represents HEA’s brand and voice
• Facilitating dialogue with fosters, staff, and volunteers (as needed), to gather additional information about companion animals looking for their forever families

Requirements:

• Proven experience or demonstrated skill set as an effective writer
• Professional level verbal and written communication skills
• To fulfill assignments
• To correspond effectively with fellow volunteers and staff
• Excellent understanding of grammar, spelling, and syntax
• Ability to meet repeated deadlines
• Skilled in aligning an organization’s brand and voice while effectively telling stories
• Willingness and desire to be coached and incorporate feedback
