Girls on the Run is a life-changing, character development program for girls in 3rd - 8th grade. Our mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In each session, the girls learn ways to be healthy and joyful while developing team building skills and training for a 5k.

We are looking for a Head Coach to help lead a teams of girls at the Mission Valley YMCA! Practices will be held on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4:15 - 5:30pm starting in early February. Volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons twice a week after school for 75 minutes each. Head Coaches are required to attend both practices per week, become CPR certified, and manage all team/parent communication.

Coaches does not need any prior experience - we give our volunteers all the tools and training they need to be a successful GOTR coach. The Spring 2020 season will start in February and run for 10 weeks, ending with our celebratory 5k on Saturday, May 9th.

The Program:

Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.
