The Makerspace at Indian Creek, called The Lab, provides a space for the community to explore, create, invent, build and collaborate with others. The Lab offers a variety of equipment and tools for customers to use and learn. The Lab is looking for helpful volunteers to assist patrons learn how to set up their projects related to 3D printing, sewing, and other basic machines. This position helps extend the resources in the Lab for staff to better assist and direct the needs of our patrons.

Key responsibilities:

  • Help patrons set up their 3D printing and sewing projects
  • Explain to patrons what the makerspace is and some of the services we offer
  • Set up reserved machines for patrons to use.

Requirements:

  • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
  • Computer skills are desired but not required
  • 3D printing or vector artwork background a plus

Training:

  • Orientation will include training on 3D printers, Brother ScanNcuts, Sewing machines, and button making.

Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older unless volunteering for the teen department or as a part of the family volunteer program (2nd grade and up).
