Bonfire
A beautiful bonfire like this will keep us warm as we work to help the forest preserve!

The plants and animals at Watersmeet Woods Forest Preserve needs your help! Join an inspiring movement of volunteers gathering to care for this special site at the confluence of the Chicago and Skokie Rivers. Learn what it takes to help nature thrive in our treasured forest preserves and to make our preserves safe and healthy for people and creatures of all ages to enjoy. Join us once a year, once a month or once a week! We pick up litter, cut down invasive species of trees, pull weeds, collect seeds from native plants, and spread those seeds to restore life to the prairie and woodlands that surround the river.

No experience necessary, and volunteers of all ages are welcome, although minors under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult and all minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Education and training opportunities are abundant for those who want a deeper experience.

Park on the street on the west side of Avon Rd, north of Winnetka Ave. We will meet just south of Avon Ave at the large red forest preserve sign. Look for yellow "volunteer" signs. Dress for being outside! Wear clothing that can get dirty and sturdy close toed shoes, no matter what the weather. Bring your own water bottle. Snacks, water, tools, safety equipment, and instruction will be provided.
