Nature lover? Volunteer for Winter Solstice - enjoy a bonfire, music, drumming and refreshments

Help set up, host, and/or clean up Winter Solstice event. This free community event celebrates the longest night of the year with a bonfire, sing-along, s-mores and cider. A wonderful volunteer opportunity!
Choose your time / task:

Set-Up: 3:30 - 4:15 2 volunteers: Set up 3 tables (stored at The Old Manse); set up fire pit, build fire (don't light); set out extra wood; put bins of materials out at each table (will open later); set out trash can; get first pot of cider heating in the office; find 10 good marshmallow roasting sticks and put with refreshment bin; set out pathway of luminaria.

Hosting: 5:15 - 7:15 5-6 volunteers
Turn on lights in luminaria.
Set out materials on tables:
Refreshment Table: 1 volunteer
Gatorade container with cider (fill it up in house, carry down); put out graham crackers, s'mores, and marshmallows and roasting sticks; put out donation box; refill cider as needed from urn in Main House.

Parking attendants: 2 volunteers
Help manage flow of cars into parking areas, filling Old Manse lot first, followed by paved NPS lot, and any overflow up to North Bridge Visitor Center.

Greeting/donation/candle tables: 2 volunteers
Set out little Umbrella Banner, Baskets of programs, Musketaquid flyer, Umbrella Catalogue, donation basket. Make sure everyone gets a program as they come in (has words to songs for sing-along). Set out baskets of candles; check lighters. Hand out and light 1 candle per family.

Bonfire tender: 1 volunteer
Light and manage bonfire -- must be comfortable and experienced managing an outdoor fire in a fire pit. We want as large a fire as is safe in the pit. Extinguish fire at end of event.

Data Collection: 2 volunteers
Ask people as they are coming in how they heard about event, and what town they are from. Capture information by making hashmarks on pre-printed sheets of paper.
Pass out and collect mini journals in which people write a few words about their experience at the Solstice.

Clean-Up: 2 volunteers
Throw out trash; return all items to bins at each table; breakdown tables and return to storage place
