Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital is looking for a Certified Pet Therapy dog and Handler to volunteer their time providing Pet Therapy to our patients.

Pet Therapy takes place the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 3pm-4pm.

Due to the volunteer having contact with patients, the volunteer would have to complete an Application, Interview, QuantiFERON draw TB test, Background Check, Training, and Orientation.

Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination.

Description

Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital is one of 6 state run free standing psychiatric hospitals under the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. We offer care to those patients who cannot be cared for in the general community. NOPH has 116 beds with 5 units. Our units are broken up by civil (patients admitted via emergency request or probate) and forensic (patients who are court ordered here for evaluations and treatment or were found NGRI (not guilty by reason of insanity). NOPH serves 23 counties in Northwest Ohio from the Sandusky region west to Indiana and from the Michigan border south to near Dayton.We have over 200 staff member who are all specially trained to care for patients with severe mental illness. NOPH is committed to helping erase the stigmas associated with Mental Health!
