During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Families with food insecurities is on the rise due to Covid-19. The Jackson County Senior Mobile Food Pantry provides much needed supplemental food to those in our community 55 and older. Volunteers are needed to set foods from the Gleaners truck out on tables, assist shoppers with selections and assist the shoppers to their vehicles, and tear down after the event. This is a high impact opportunity for volunteers as the majority of seniors are on a fixed income and do fall short of meeting their nutritional needs.
During the winter (Nov., Dec., Jan., and March) the pantry is held indoors at the Vallonia gym (in Vallonia, off SR135) while summer events are at the Nazarene Church in Brownstown. Volunteers should plan on being present for approximately three (3) hours. This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families and friends and team building!
