Who we are: Founded in 1963, the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, Maryland is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults in Montgomery County learn to read, write and/or speak English.

What We Do: For those learners who have a firm handle on basic literacy (approximately a 5th grade reading level), but do not yet have their high school diploma or equivalent, we offer free tutoring to prepare for the GED exam.

If you are interested in helping an adult learner in basic math, social studies, and general test preparation, we need you!

You are not required to speak a second language, but if you are a Spanish speaker, please let Maya know.
