Ending Homelessness Rebuilding Lives

Friendship Place is in the midst of fulfilling a Christmas Wish List from the children of our participant families.

When the gifts come in...we need to wrap them!

On December Friday the 13th and Monday December 16th we're planning a volunteer event to help us wrap about 200+ gifts that will be going to children of Friendship Place participants. We would love to have your help in making their Christmas wish come true of finding beautifully wrapped presents on Christmas morning.

Stop by our location at 5100 Wisconsin Ave, Ste 516 beginning at 10AM. Wrap two or three presents and leave or stay for the day until it's all done! We would appreciate any help.

If you're able to, please bring some gift wrap, tape, ribbon, gifts bags, etc.

Please RSVP to Chris Cannedy at ccannedy@friendshipplace. org

About Friendship Place

Location:

4713 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016, US

Mission Statement

At our core, our mission is to help people facing or at risk of homelessness to secure stable housing and embark on a new chapter in their lives. Our ultimate vision is for DC and beyond to be a place where everybody can find a place they can call "home."

Description

Friendship Place is staffed by over 100 people and has a wide reach in the DC Metro area. The highly successful programs have been given numerous awards, and help make a lasting difference in the lives of over 4,500 people yearly through street outreach, free medical and psychiatric clinic, including drop-in care, case management, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing for veterans and their families as well as job placement and specialized programs. Our program results have been incredibly successful, and various government and nonprofit organizations all over the country are studying our models to replicate our achievements.

Nonetheless, Friendship Place-supported by 26 congregations and more than 300 volunteers a year-retains the feel of a small, caring, neighborhood organization. The most commonly repeated refrain we hear from the people who come to us for help is this: "At other agencies, I felt like a number. At Friendship Place, I’m treated like a human being."
