We are looking for a group of volunteers who are able to come in on March 5th and March 12th to cook hot meal as a part of a team for 60-90 homeless and food insecure individuals. We provide a team leader who will create a menu the morning of from the food in our donation pantry. All we need is your helping hands to prepare, cook, and serve the food!
Volunteering starts at 9am and goes until 1pm. We open our doors to the guests at 10:30am and they come in to enjoy coffee and appetizers before meal is served at noon. We put out an activity center to encourage socialization and breaking barriers. We also distribute donated clothing and personal care items to our guests.
If you are passionate about spreading positivity, working with a team, and possibly meeting some new amazing community members, this opportunity is for YOU!
If interested, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Bessana Kendig at cffvco@gmail.com or call 773-932-1010. Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Mission Statement

Through its programs, Care for Friends successfully connects people with community resources to enable them to achieve a better quality of life.
Description
Our flagship program is "Food for Friends" - where we create a safe space for anyone requiring a meal to gather in community for a no-cost hot lunch served in sit-down, family style with dignity and respect.
Other services are available during this gathering time, including haircuts, a health clinic, clothes closet, and toiletries distribution. Additionally, representatives from our various partner organizations begin to make connections with our guests - establishing trusting relationships that will ultimately allow our guests to connect with the services they need to achieve a better quality of life.
