Do you have a passion for reading? Do you enjoy helping others? Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community? Then join the Moreno Valley Public Library as a library volunteer.

The Moreno Valley Public Library is looking for library volunteers aged 14 and up, who are available to come into the library about twice a week on a scheduled basis, in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends. As a Library volunteer you’ll have the opportunity to interact the public while assisting library staff with a variety of projects and programs, and other fundamental tasks throughout the library. The Ideal volunteer will be able to donate their personal time during the Library's normal business hours, greeting library patrons entering the library and providing them with excellent customer service. Examples of duties include:

Examples of Duties
Provide excellent customer service.
Assist patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures
(checking out, logging onto the internet, making copies, etc.).
Shelves library materials and maintains the appearance of shelved materials.
Provides information regarding location of library materials, programs, and other special events.
Adhere to Moreno Valley Public Library policies and procedures.
Maintain the confidentiality of library information.
Maintain contact with Library Staff regarding needs, concerns, questions, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Volunteers who are over the age of 18 must pass a background check from the City of Moreno Valley.
All volunteers must sign and complete the Volunteer Application and supplemental packet as supplied by the City of Moreno Valley.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to move from place to place within the building; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 35 pounds of library materials including files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
