ORGANIZATION: Junior Achievement of Arizona

Do you want to make an impact on the next generation of leaders?
Help us prepare today's youth to be successful in the workforce!

Junior Achievement's You’re Hired program helps students develop workforce readiness skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, and professional collaboration.

We are looking for volunteers to teach the JA You’re Hired program at Westview HS near 107th Ave and Indian School in Avondale.

  • Volunteers will be asked to teach a total of five 45min lessons with the students. Lessons are typically taught one per week for about 5 weeks.
  • Flexible scheduling will allow the volunteer to work directly with the classroom teacher to schedule the lessons at a date/time convenient for each.
  • All five lessons must be completed prior to February 25 th, 2020
  • Volunteers will need to attend a volunteer orientation prior to teaching where they will receive the program and activity materials for their class.

You will make a difference in the lives of a classroom of students! Volunteer mentors are the magic behind our programs. In fact, 1 in 3 JA alumni credits their JA experience to influencing their career decision. AND, 1 in 5 JA alumni has gone on to work in the field of their JA volunteer!

About Junior Achievement of Arizona

Location:

636 W. Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282, US

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement: Empowering young people to own their economic success.

Description

Did you know that the majority of Arizona CEOs believe employees lack critical skills that are needed to succeed in the workplace? More than half of adults under 30 do not keep a personal budget, their average debt is over $45,000, and 12% of them don’t even have a job.

It’s our responsibility to empower future generations - to equip them with the skills and knowledge to be successful and pursue their dreams. These are our kids, grandchildren, our future colleagues, and community leaders. The success of our economy depends on their preparedness.

With the support of thousands of education, business, and volunteer partners, we are giving kids the tools to succeed. Our volunteer mentors from the community teach students about the importance of money management, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurial thinking. Arming today’s youth with this critical education will result in less financial instability and debt, a better-trained workforce, a more robust economy, and healthier families.
