VITA Volunteer at Americana (Tax Preparation)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Americana Community Center

  • 9 people are interested

Americana is a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site. Our participants are eligible to receive free tax services through a partnership with the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC).

All volunteers must complete virtual training (even if you have volunteered before) and complete a certification exam to volunteer at the tax site. The trainings are scheduled for seven hours, which allows for 4 hours of content and an optional 3 hours to complete the exam with the help of LABC staff. Volunteers may certify at the basic or advanced level. They recommend volunteers with no tax experience start with basic training, but you can easily become advanced certified at a later time if you choose. Anyone interested in volunteering should also complete the volunteer application, located at https://forms.office. com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx? id= m2GYTy0gP0GMzzYdVyE7zbEKxT7HN3 dIhB7iBk93nXlUOTUyMlFaVkYyOFNS V1JYUFMzSzVPTjI1TS4u

Virtual Events and Information Sessions can be found here: https://labclearn.org/ events/

At this point in time, there are both in-person and virtual opportunities for this upcoming year. There is no prior experience needed when applying to assist with tax assistance. Please email Americana's Volunteer Coordinator, Sarah Henckel, for more information (volunteering@americanacc.org).
