Through our mall, office, and mobile locations, Dreams for Change prepared over 8,200 free tax returns and brought $14 million in refunds back into our communities in 2019. We provide services all through San Diego County as we are the major VITA provider in San Diego.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $56,000 or less. Through this program IRS-certified volunteers provide free income tax return preparation.Our goal is to help taxpayers claim any credits they may be eligible for by completing 10,000 returns this upcoming year. And, we would not be able to achieve these goals without the support of our volunteers.
A VITA instructor, certified by the IRS, will train you on preparing taxes for low- income clients.

- We operate during mall hours, Monday through Sunday, as shifts are flexible.
- All volunteers are required to complete at least the basic training in order to volunteer but it is highly recommended to attend both basic and advance trainings.
