About Shepherd's Center of Kansas City Central
1111 W 39th St, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64111, US
Shepherd's Center Central empowers mid-life and older adults to live healthy, engaged and independent lives.
Shepherd's Center started in 1972 when over 20 congregations of different faiths joined together to meet the needs of older adults in south Kansas City. A non-ecumenical organization, Shepherd's Center was one of the first home-delivered meal providers in Kansas City. Other programs include Medicare Counseling, Adventures in Learning (adult, lifelong learning) and the Senior Companions. The center continues to innovate with events like our annual 70 Over 70 awards and inter-generation trivia night. Shepherd's Center Central has been, and remains, one of the area's most active organizations helping older adults in our community stay healthy, engaged, and independent
In 2013 Westport Cooperative Services merged with Shepherd's Center, adding new resources to enhance our mission. Older adults in Westport, Brookside, and Waldo continue to look to Shepherd's Center Central for services and programs tailored to their needs.
Anyone who loves and admires older adults and strong communities can find volunteer opportunities at Shepherd's Center Central.
