Aeon for Ocean (AFO), a 501(c)(3), our mission is to educate and increase awareness about ocean conservation and marine life amongst kids and their greater role in spreading the message to drive action. We are looking for someone to help support and expand our community engagement. Role Description The Associate Researcher will work closely with the education director and educational committee to research and develop K-12 educational programs and materials. Responsibilities Develop educational programs that align with Aeon for Ocean’s goals and missions. Curriculum and activity development for K to12, particularly in K-12 programming. Development of presentation material for K to 12. Assist with outreach to public and independent educational institute to educate on K2W Program. Qualifications Have or be working toward-a Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Life Sciences, Earth and Oceanographic Science, or equivalent work experience. Experience in research and data analysis such as natural and environmental science or other related fields. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered. Work experience as a teacher preferably middle school or high school level, curriculum designer, or instructional designer Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables. Precision, accuracy and high attention to detail in all aspects of work. Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Very comfortable working in a virtual team environment incorporating group problem-solving; shares information and responsibility. Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and incorporating standards into the curriculum. Education and/or work experience with online learning environments, Learning Management Software, game design, etc. is a plus. Our focus is on helping inland communities understand why the ocean matters and identify things they can do to protect the ocean. Through our Krill2Whale program and other initiatives, Aeon for Ocean is teaching kids they can save the World Ocean for eons!
