Summary:

This Volunteer Food Pantry Specialist will assist with the set-up and/ or distribution of pantry items to program participants. This position is strictly a volunteer role which receives no compensation. The Volunteer Food Pantry Specialist role consist of several essential steps that allow us to provide food assistance to at least 50 participants every week.

How You Help:

SET-UP

  • Receive delivery of product
  • Ensure product is in condition to be received
  • Move product from warehouse to Resource Room
  • Organize and put product on racks to be distributed to program participants
  • Ensure that all orders have been received
  • Ensure that the Resource Room is kept clean
  • Volunteer Pantry Specialist II may be asked to assist with other My Pantry Express tasks

DISTRIBUTION

  • Greet all program participants
  • Answer any questions or concerns
  • Help determine order number or order information
  • Distribute product to program participants and check off order once received
  • At the end of the night, collect all blue bins and crates and place back on pallets in the warehouse
  • Ensure that the Resource Room is clean
  • Volunteer Food Pantry Distribution Specialist may be asked to assist with other My Pantry Express tasks

Basic & Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 10-30 lbs.
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, and good communication skills are required
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the volunteer position.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, and bend.
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • A background check may be required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • These volunteer positions will be on Wednesdays, with Set-up from 9:00am-12:00pm and Distribution from 4:00pm-7:00pm. We desire that all volunteers provide a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 10 hours of service once a week.
