This is a truly unique opportunity to be involved in a new product launch within an existing program. The Guyana Economic Development Trust (GEDT), a U.S. based venture philanthropy initiative, supports early-stage enterprise and skills development in Guyana, South America. GEDT's signature project is the Guyana Innovation Prize, which is a pre-seed grant to commercialize breakthrough ideas in natural sciences, agriculture and agro-processing, engineering, and technology from higher education institutions in Guyana.
Guyana is a new oil producing country. However, its primary exports have been in agriculture and natural resources. The country possesses limited resources for startups as compared to the U.S. The GEDT's Guyana Innovation Prize is not a business plan competition; it is a platform to support startup businesses, groom university and college-based founders, and create new employment opportunities.
We are seeking a volunteer to assist with the launch of our annual fundraising campaign. The project involves:
Successful candidates will have above average written communication skills and creativity. An interest in developing economies is also a plus.
