For us, it’s all about the people. We celebrate each individual we serve, knowing they have their own combination of challenges and definition of success. We offer a wide variety of programs and services to help people navigate challenges, secure resources and get support to live life on their own terms. We meet people where they are and guide them to where they want to be, using a proven framework to help people achieve their goals. From serving families with children who need support to helping those in our community that are aging, our programs lead the way in person-centered thinking.
We’re always in need of volunteers to fill a variety of positions. Our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find the right fit for what you are looking to accomplish. If it be a business team, department, or individual volunteering, we have many fulfilling opportunities to help you make an impact in the community!
Description: We have quite a few people who are looking for a volunteer to go volunteering with them in the community. They value giving back to their communities and want someone to join them.
Responsibilities: You would work with the person we serve to find a volunteer opportunity that they like and then schedule to volunteer together. On the day of the volunteer activity, you would pick the person we serve up from their house, go volunteer with them and then bring them home after.
Qualifications: You need to be at least 18 years-old, pass background and driving record checks, and be interested in facilitating the process to volunteer with a person we serve.
Training: Our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to set up your background/driving record checks at our offices in NE Mpls. They will then train you for the position. Training and checks usually take 1.5 hours.
Benefits to Volunteer:
- Volunteer in a fulfilling opportunity to help make an impact in the community
- Receive training in the application of the person-centered model of serving people with disabilities
- Learn new skills and make new connections in the community
- Volunteering your experience helps build your experience
Commitment and Location: This is a 2-3 time commitment activity, with the hope that it may be a regularly scheduled activity if you and the person we serve decide you’d like to meet regularly.
About Community Involvement Programs
Suite 1, 1600 Broadway Northeast, Minneapolis, MN 55413, US
As listeners, learners and leaders, we will stand with and support people with disabilities in their communities as they pursue their personal dreams and goals.
We're here to help people cope with the issues surrounding social injustice, low income, aging, and homelessness -- and, in doing so, to help them live their greatest lives.
Since 1971, we've been meeting people where they are and bringing them what they need to live as independently, creatively, and fully as possible. We offer a variety of services and supports, which have all been developed as a result of listening to and understanding the needs of the people we serve, their loved ones and their communities.
We'll work with your schedule.
