Interested in helping older adults maintain their independence as they age? If you have time to spare and a desire to make a difference, become a TRAIL volunteer! You can set your own schedule, perform the tasks most suited to your time and skills, and enjoy meeting TRAIL members who will truly value your services.

At this Volunteer Orientation session, you’ll learn more about TRAIL and its mission, as well as the various types of volunteer services we offer to our members. Volunteer drivers are our greatest need, particularly for members with recurring medical appointments and other ongoing commitments.

This event will be held in the small conference room at Hills Bank, 1401 South Gilbert Street in Iowa City. Parking is plentiful in the adjacent lot, but please avoid parking in the first row closest to the building. Orientation attendees are welcome to help themselves to the complimentary water and coffee in the lobby.

To sign up for this session, call the TRAIL Office at (319) 800-9003. We hope to see you there - and bring a friend!

Mission Statement

TRAIL’s mission is to help older adults in Johnson County live and age safely and comfortably in the place they call home.

Description

TRAIL of Johnson County, an IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was formed when two groups of Iowa City-area neighbors and friends, who are at or near retirement age, discovered their shared interest in aging in place. Rather than moving to traditional senior-living facilities, we prefer to continue living in our own homes.

But we recognize that along the way, we'll benefit from being part of a community that can offer many forms of support. And that’s how TRAIL was born.
