A Vocational Mentoring program has been established and will commence in term3 2021 in the Inner Northern region of Melbourne.

Vocational mentoring is a key support in career exploration and job seeking for socially and economically disadvantaged young people. Vocational mentoring can help young people with limited social capital learn about the workplace, clarify their aspirations, extend their networks, and help find work opportunities.

The delivery of the program will be through partnership with EdConnect and the Inner Northern LLEN and we will be working with four schools in terms 2 and 3 in 2021 to deliver vocational mentoring for VCAL students.

Vocational mentors are now being recruited to work with socially disadvantaged VCAL students in a number of schools in inner north of Melbourne. Students enrolled in Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) will work with mentors on vocational career-focussed support activities. Support will consist of a 10-week vocationally focussed program with mentoring occurring through a combination of individual and small group sessions. Students lacking useful networks and experience will be provided with support, networks and skills to assist their career planning.

We are seeking members of the community with trades, life skills, community connections to offer their time for 11 weeks (10 weeks of the program and 1 week evaluation) to develop VCAL students skills and confidence to head into the next chapter of their life.
